Met My Goals

I did it! Scrapped 30 photos for the month and posted at least one blog entry a week. This  post is my 6th for the month and the 30th photo is part of my art journal entry for today. Sorry though, I'm a little shy about sharing the journal entry because it's a little personal. I'm sure however that I'll be sharing other journal entries in the future.

I hope you too have set some personal creativity goals and are working towards meeting them. I don't know that I will meet my goals every month but just working towards them is a big encouragement to finish what I've started and meeting my goals is my on personal pat on the back.

Super Crazy Week

Nothing new to post so far this week. To meet my personal scrappin' goal I have to scrap at least one picture before the clock hits midnight so later today I'll be looking at some sketches and deciding which photos I want to work on.

I wanted to share a mixed media site I happened across. I'm really looking to forward spending some time in their community and taking a class or two. Check out the Mixed Media Workshops when you have some time.

Project 12 for March and April

Since I set a personal goal to participate in this project I decided to use some of the Project 12 sketches for meeting another one of my goals of scrapping at least 30 pictures a month. I'm not exactly following the rules since we are to scrap what we were doing in the month but, you could say I'm loosely meeting that since scrapping photos is what I'm doing every month.

Here's the sketch for March

Instead of a double layout I just used the left side of the sketch to scrap a single 12X12. I might use the right side for another layout in the future.

I stepped out of my box on this one and wrote a subtitle freehand and did a little bit of drawing around the set of clovers in the upper left.

Here's the sketch for April

My take

Yes, this is a double layout but since I can barely photograph a single 12X12, posting a picture of a double 12X12 just wasn't going to happen. In all honestly, I tried but I was not successful. Good news though, I'm still working on improving.

Oh, one more thing - so far I have 29 pictures scrapped for June. Only one more to go to meet my minimum.

Still Slappin' Down the Photos

Still plugging away at my goals. Got 5 more photos down just yesterday. Today I'm working on nine more. I'm trying to get back on track with another goal I set earlier in the year to participate in Project 12. I'll get a few of those layouts posted in the next couple of days.

In the meantime I'd like to share a page that I just love. It has colors and patterns that make me smile. Still working on my layout photography but I am seeing some improvement.

Keeping Up With Goals

Just a quick update to my blog so I can keep with my goal of a weekly posting. I've scrapped no additional pictures since my last post. I've been working on an art journal project that's had me cussing. At first it didn't turn out like I wanted, but now I'm LOVIN' it. I'll share more on that when I finish assembling it. Anyway, I opted to work out the love hate relationship with the art journal project instead of slapping down any photos.

I did take some time to tutor my youngest daughter on mixed media backgrounds for canvases. She decided she wanted to make her own canvas girl but wanted to paint the head on body instead of using any paper. I think she did a beautiful job and I'm so honored that she wanted to share in my hobbies.

Not a Thing to Show

Don't have a thing to show today, not that I've not been creating, just don't have any pictures uploaded and ready to post. I do however have something to share. I am working on changing some habits and setting some new goals for my personal time.

The past couple of months I've been really organizing. Everything from the kitchen drawers to the garage have been decluttered. It's a wonderful feeling of freedom to get rid of stuff you are taking care of but really have no interest in owning.

My house is more comfortable and tidy and that makes me feel no guilt about spending time in my crafting area. The first thing I've started to declutter in that area is my photos. I have tons that are printed and plenty of digi prints still stored on my computer. I have a new goal of scrapping at least 30 of those printed pictures every month until they are gone. I really think that I could do more, (the last 2 days I scrapped 15), but the older pictures not in digi format will have to be scanned and stored. And I'm making some new rules about my layouts. I want them to be pleasing but I also want the pictures out of the drawers and onto paper or other material so I am back to doing a lot of double layouts and using sketches that allow me to put SEVERAL pictures on the layout. Also I'm recording on the back of the layout the names of as many of the people in the photos as I can possibly identify. I've noticed that even when I journal I don't always included the identity of all who are pictured. Lastly I'm keeping a log of my progress. Every time I finish a layout I'm recording the number of pictures to help me track my goal progress.

I'm hoping that some of you will help me stay accountable with my goal by checking up on me from time to time and to make that a little easier, I've also created a blogging goal. I will strive to post at least once a week, (you'd think someone as wordy and long winded as myself would never find reason not to post to her own blog. After all, talking about yourself and what you are doing is just the bestest, next to creating of course).

Thanks for stopping by
